"This book was intense! You know that feeling when you are watching a scary movie, where you just know something is about to happen so you sit there and hold your breath and wait for the inevitable. Two people totally wrong for each other that all the wrongs make up a right." -Author J. She's brought two completely (polar opposite) souls together and woven such a tale of love. "I've decided that Nicole Fiorina is a story genius. Her attention to detail and the character development were out of this world." -Casey with Educated Book Freak Blog It is beautiful, sweet, twisted, and will leave you begging for more. "I was sobbing crying in parts of this story, in awe of all that this story encompasses. "The way this book brought every emotion out of me deserves a standing ovation!" -Author K. Thus their plight was naked and terrifying in its simplicity. It was 1915, and there were no helicopters, no Weasels, no Sno-Cats, no suitable planes. They had no radio transmitter with which to notify any would-be rescuers, and it is doubtful that any rescuers could have reached them even if they had been able to broadcast an SOS. Nobody in the outside world knew they were in trouble, much less where they were. It had been very nearly a year since they had last been in contact with civilization. They were for all practical purposes alone in the frozen Antarctic seas. Though he certainly was aware that their situation was desperate, he could not possibly have imagined then the physical and emotional demands that ultimately would be placed upon them, the rigors they would have to endure, the sufferings to which they would be subjected. Few men have borne the responsibility Shackleton did at that moment. The position was 69★´ South, 51☃0´ West-deep in the icy wasteland of the Antarctic’s treacherous Weddell Sea, just about midway between the South Pole and the nearest known outpost of humanity, some 1,200 miles away. Based on the play by Tennessee Williams, this well-known drama follows troubled former schoolteacher Blanche DuBois as she leaves a small-town of Mississippi and moves in with her sister, Stella Kowalski, and her husband, Stanley, in New Orleans. This play was probably the most revealing play ever written from what I read and base during the time it was made. This play caught a lot of the audience off guard because it was not normal to write such topics during this time frame. This was a period of rebuild after World War II. Tennessee Williams wrote his play “A Streetcar Named Desire” in 1947. After college, he moved to New Orleans, a city that would inspire much of his writing. Tennessee Williams was born on March 26, 1911, in Columbus, Mississippi. He is considered among the three foremost playwrights of the 20th century. Tennessee Williams, also known as Thomas Lanier Williams, was an American play writer. In 1958, Achebe published his first novel: Things Fall Apart. After becoming educated in English at University College (now the University of Ibadan) and a subsequent teaching stint, Achebe joined the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation in 1961 as director of external broadcasting. Early Years and Careerįamed writer and educator Chinua Achebe was born Albert Chinualumogu Achebe on November 16, 1930, in the Igbo town of Ogidi in eastern Nigeria. Chinua Achebe made a splash with the publication of his first novel, Things Fall Apart, in 1958. Unfortunately, this did just not work for me. I ended up picking it up on Audible when I also got Beach Read and I started this one as soon as I finished that. I love Alaska and books set there! It sounded like it had a bit of a grumpy hero and a sunshine heroine, which is also my thing. And I was so bored I kept falling asleep and waking up 2 chapters later and having no idea what happened and having to go back. But because I was listening to it, it was just taking so damn long. If I’d read this, as opposed to listening to it, I probably would’ve slogged through it to the end. Yes, this is a DNF (did not finish) review, which I almost never do. But when an act of kindness brings Zoey into Graham’s world, she may just find there’s more to the grumpy local than meets the eye…and more to love in Moose Springs than just the Alaskan wilderness. One look at the mountain town of Moose Springs and she’s smitten. Two weeks in Alaska isn’t just the top item on Zoey Caldwell’s bucket list. Not even the sweet, enthusiastic tourist in the corner who blushes every time he looks her way… Now he’s stuck slinging reindeer dogs to an endless parade of resort visitors who couldn’t interest him less. When Graham Barnett named his diner The Tourist Trap, he meant it as a joke. The Tourist Attraction (Moose Springs, Alaska #1)īlurb : Jay, Nikki, Jayni and her little brother, Kenny, go out to T.G.I. However, Nikki decides to tell Jay anyway because he reveals he has left his job and is joining a mini-cab firm but needs to provide the car. They decide to not tell Jayni's father, Jay, who they fear will spend it on his friends on drinks at the pub or losing it by going to a betting shop. In the beginning, Jayni's mother, Nikki Fenton, wins £10,000 lottery money on a scratchcard. The story deals with the issues of domestic abuse, child abuse and breast cancer. Mum becomes Victoria Luck, Kenny becomes Kendall Luck (as it is easy for him to remember) and Jayni becomes Lola Rose Luck. The family adopt new names to help prevent their father tracing them. It revolves around the life of a young girl called Jayni Fenton who runs away to London with her mother Nikki and younger brother Kenny, after her father physically abuses her mother and, eventually, Jayni herself. Lola Rose is a children's novel by Jacqueline Wilson, first published in 2003. Print (hardback & paperback) and audiobook Finally, half girlfriend or boyfriend is that person many of us have encountered on campus. As far as the ensemble music album goes-Manoj Muntashir’s Phir Bhi Main Tumko Chahoonga, the only track that has real recall is lyrically-adequate but Mithoon’s tune is not compelling enough. And Shraddha, who looks her loveliest here, lacks gravitas. Arjun is sincere, but seems too urban for an ideal `Bihari’ fit. Half Girlfriend Movie Review : The first half breezes through, but post interval proceedings hang in tandem with the hangdog expression worn by the hero. On the outside, the two of them have nothing in common, but love blossoms in the most unexpected way when Madhav starts to woo Riya. Duration: 2 hrs 15 mins Half Girlfriend Synopsis: This story is a coming-of-age romance between a vernacular Bihari Boy - Madhav Jha, who falls in love with an upper class "Delhi high-society" girl - Riya Somani. |
